Sasquatch Dining Table
Sasquatch Dining Table
It was in the 1930s that a classroom of design students at Parson's in Paris came up with the crude form of a table that we identify today as a "Parson's Table." The simple and obvious shape has captured the hearts and minds of many people as countless versions exist throughout time and space. In 1994, architect and furniture designer, Philip Mainzer, came up with a big-legged version and called it Bigfoot, which might be one of the most successful Parson's table.
I studied the dimensions, proportions, and spirit of these timeless shapes. The form can be boiled down to a few variables. The legs are at the edge of the furniture piece as though the form is a complete rectangular box. The legs go to the top and reveal their end grain. It's monolithic. It's grotesque. It's sturdy. It's beautiful. It's obvious. It's heavy, and its gravity pulls my family together around it several times throughout the day. It's truly the home of our home. And I want that for you, too.
This table is made out of Douglas Fir, yet you can choose White Oak, Walnut, or Cherry, which come at market rates.
This table is delivered in three pieces and can easily be assembled or disassembled to move through doors.
* Benches not included. Get the Sasquatch benches to go with your table.
